When we tend Nature, it tends us. That has driven Kate Bast, a certified nature and forest therapy guide (since 2019), and her work guiding Shinrin-Yoku or “forest bathing,” nature therapy and deep connection walks. These walks move slowly, gently and silently upon the land, to help us deeply notice nature by activating all the senses (more than five). By offering prompts, or invitations, to connect with nature, Kate helps others find stillness, calm, a balm, meaning and a deep connection. A field guide to the senses, Kate is founder of Shinrin-Yoku Madison, based in Wisconsin. She speaks to and guides people of all ages in group and private walks, as well as organizations, businesses and other entities interested in health, wellbeing, and nature’s benefits. She is a collaborator at heart. She is a guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, which has trained and certified 2400 guides in 66 countries.
